The permit with your town, and an appointment with RG&E if the meter has to be pulled.

Inspection and sign-off
The inspector checks the work, and you get the certificate for your records and your insurer.
A Greece shop since 1999
I opened the shop in Greece in 1999 with one van and a long list of fuse boxes to replace. There are five electricians now, my son Kyle among them, and Deb runs the office.
Most of our work is in houses built between 1920 and 1970, which means cloth-covered wiring, small panels and the odd splice buried in a wall. If we find something you didn’t ask about, you get a photo and a price before we touch it.

Reviews
Six recessed lights and new dimmers in the kitchen. On time, tidy, and the old buzzing is gone.
We lost power for two days last winter and had a 22 kW generator put in this spring. During the storm in June it came on by itself, about ten seconds after the lights went out.
Two electricians quoted me a panel upgrade for an EV charger. Gary checked the load first and said I didn’t need one. Charger installed for $1,300.
They rewired the upstairs of our 1920s house and patched the plaster so well we can’t find where they opened the walls. It ran a week over, but they told us early.
Our 1952 house still had a fuse box, and our insurer gave us 60 days to replace it. Ostrander put in a 200-amp panel in one day and had the inspection booked before they left.

Questions
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Gary holds a master electrician’s license from the City of Rochester, and all five of our electricians are covered by our $2 million liability policy and workers’ comp. We’ll send the certificate before we start.
Do you pull permits?
On every job that needs one, which is most of them. The permit and the inspection are in the price we quote, and you get the certificate when it passes.
Can you look at a panel upgrade?
Yes. Text a photo of the panel with its door open to (585) 555-0147, and we’ll reply with a rough price. Confirming it in person is free.
How soon can you come?
Repairs within two or three working days, often sooner. Panels and chargers are usually booked two to three weeks out, and generators four to six, because of the permit and the gas line.
Do you charge for a quote?
Not for anything over $500. Small repairs are $129 for the first hour, and we tell you that on the phone.
What size generator do I need?
For most houses here, 22 kW runs everything, central air included. If you only need the furnace, the fridge, the sump pump and a few lights, 14 kW does it for about $2,500 less.
Can my panel handle an EV charger?
A 200-amp panel almost always can. On 100 amps it depends on what else in the house is electric. We check the load before quoting, and a load-sharing device sometimes saves you the upgrade.
